Food Festival / south-vendor-hall

Narrator BOT 17-Jan-25 04:06 PM
Here, the Kreetassan delegation, led by Orsic, had arranged simple yet hearty meals like fresh bread with herb roasted butter, roasted root vegetables, and a rich stew of lentils and smoked meat, reflecting the humble traditions of their farming colony. Off to the side, a peculiar blue-brown bean with vivid blue blobs sat encased in glass. Several Kreetassans gathered around it, murmuring soft prayers, their reverence adding an air of solemnity to the sacred object. *All around the hall were holosigns saying "No Eating here, only eat in the Private Eating hall*

After helping get plates for the food, Orsic moved to watch the few revere the bean, loving the sight of the bean. It was so beautiful to him. (edited)

Seiyya walked into the vendor hall, looking at all the different food options. It all looked delicious- and warm, too, which she always appreciated. She was a fan of warm, hearty comfort food like that. Everything smelled so delicious, Seiyya was honestly struck with indecision. But then.. she saw.. a bean? A bean, with vivid blue blobs, encased in glass off to the side. She was intrigued, so she went over to look at it too, standing a little ways off so as not to disturb the Kreetassans murmuring prayers to it.

Nikiyta entered the vendor hall and looked at... well nothing, Nikiyta was completely blind. He sensed there was something important going on but wasn't entirely sure what it was. He turned to the only ohter person in the room and bent his knees to ask, "What are we looking at?" Interestingly, Nikiya's mouth didn't move when he spoke, he was not actually speaking, the sound seemed to be coming from a device behind his ear. The voice sounded natural though, not robotic or anything.

Ors was so engrossed with the bean that they almost didn’t notice the arrival of new visitors. Realizing that Starfleet officers had joined the gathering, they turned their attention to the newcomers and spoke with reverence:“This bean is called the Azulmire. It is native to the planet Rileth. During the war, its stalks brought light to otherwise dark times. Some say the fungi that grow with it guided them to stunning victories, while others believe it helped guide us home. Over time, we have come to revere both the bean and the fungi, cultivating them on Rileth and our colony.”

"Oh that's very cool. Not that I could see the bean or the light," Nikiyta said, referring to the fact that well, he was completely blind. "Sounds like this bean really brings out the fun guys since it's so important," Nikiyta said with a perfectly straight face.

Lt. Zaru Teno | SCI BOT 17-Jan-25 06:49 PM
Teno wandered into the South Vendor Hall, following the scents of the hearty meals within. When he got inside and saw them all laid out, he walked over to inspect them and maybe learn some more about the foods. What kind of plants were in them, he wondered idly. And he was getting excited to taste the new flavors. Sometimes foods from other worlds tasted…different or new! And sometimes they tasted familiar.

He grabbed himself the lentil and smoked meat stew, which had a fantastic smell. Couldn't eat it right here, though, as tempting as the smell was. He took a second to observe The Bean, though, listening to Orsic as they spoke. He had a little botany hobby, so he was intrigued by it. "What does this bean look like once it grows?"
Avatar
Orsic | NPC BOT 17-Jan-25 07:44 PM
Orsic laughed heartily at the “Fun Guys” joke, finding the humor of these people utterly delightful. Once he regained his composure, he began to explain. “Usually, the bean grows into a large, central plant, its glossy leaves reaching outward as the blue fungi start to spread from its surface. Over time, the spores take hold, gradually overtaking the entire plant until it’s fully engulfed in a glowing, fungal blueness. Sometimes it breaks down entirely, while other times it transforms into a vibrating, glowing fungal structure.” Just thinking of the ultimate evolution of the bean that dotted the planet made Orsic’s eyes brighten, his smile widening with fascination.

“Oh so the bean grows? That’s incredible, what a sight to see, well, not me,” Nikiyta said, wondering if there was a chance he could sense the changes in the bean telepathically. At its current state, he sensed nothing. “So…. Are there more than one bean? And what do the spores do? It seems pretty special to be just a nice decoration.”

Orsic | NPC BOT 17-Jan-25 08:06 PM
"On the planet Rileth, they grow across the ground, appearing all around in various stages of development; we've brought this bean with us to share here with everyone,”Orsic explained.“Their presence creates a blue hue across the planet’s surface I don’t know much about the spores—we tend not to study them too deeply, as they are more an object of reverence to us,"

Lt. Zaru Teno | SCI BOT 17-Jan-25 08:08 PM
Hearing some discussion about a bean, Teno moved away from the food to listen in. As a xenobotanist, this was his jam. “Fascinating!” He said as he stopped at a respectable distance from the group surrounding the bean’s display case. “They grow everywhere? Interesting… There is a symbiotic relationship between the bean and the fungi? I have so many questions, but I do not want to pressure you into answering of course.” He said, a bit of a sheepish, embarrassed grin on his face. His eyes were a bit wider, staring in wonder at the bean and its little spores and then back at the man named Orsic.

Rakim slipped quietly into the hall. As he crossed the threshold into it he looked about and noted who was present. Many here he remained utterly unfamiliar with. Some he reckoned he'd seen previously. Goddess will it that, if he was right, he remembered their names if he was approached, he silently hoped once he'd finished that visual sweep and headed further inside. Headed to find food as he looked to stop the soft rumble that had started up its stubborn complaint again in the face of the view and well, the smell of food. Seems a apple for lunch hadn't been enough, he observed as he'd allowed his move in to be guided by the scents he had smelt as he looked for a meal. A chance to taste new things but also a chance to ensure his hunger was satisfied.

Orsic I loved the enthusiasm from the officer, but unfortunately, our colony isn't very science-oriented."I would love to answer all your questions, but I'm just a colony administrator; I can provide general answers."They smiled as they looked all around as they said"Do we know what the other colony is serving? I'm quite curious. Give me a moment; I'll be back." And with that they glanced all around before making their way to north-vendor-hall (edited)

Sliding on in here in quick and sleek fashion, as she is want to do, Sykes began to peruse the various foodstuffs on offer with interest. If her first night with a replicator was any indication, she was a bit of a foodie. Plus, HRT certainly changes up your appetite. The holosigns discouraging her from taking a few little nibbles did make her pause before eating up a slice of bread, however, and she resigned to placing it back on her little plate before continuing through the hall. Gotta follow the rules, despite now good it all looks! (edited)

Lt. JG. Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 18-Jan-25 07:50 PM
For the past stars knows how long Elwyn had been going back and forth, practically circling the table with the food on it like a hungry shark, admiring the food. However, she had also been very distracted by the Bean encased in the glass. Having stared at that for a little while the android made her way back over to the food and grabbed a plate to start getting a small selection of the vegan options onto her plate when she saw a purple uniformed officer doing the same. Deciding to be friendly, she offered a wave and a smile to Sykes. "Hi! I'm Elwyn! Enjoying the festival?"
Avatar
Lt. JG. Carissa Sykes | INT BOT 18-Jan-25 07:52 PM
Sykes was shaken out of some choice paralysis concerning what kind of soup she’d like to try by Elwyn practically appearing directly beside her. Chipper lil’ thing, ain’t she? “Please to meet ya, doll. Sykes. Festival’s certainly got a fair amount ‘a stuff to offer a hungry gal like myself!”

Lt. JG. Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 18-Jan-25 08:16 PM
"It's nice to meet you, Sykes!" The android replied cheerfully. "Ooooh yes, it really does! I've been struggling to decide what to get! It's very hard to have the self restraint to not start eating all of this delicious looking food right here, but I have juuuust enough to not be rude." Elwyn responded with a giggle.

Lt. JG. Carissa Sykes | INT BOT 18-Jan-25 08:18 PM
“You and me both,” She said with a sly grin, finally having decided on one of the lentil soups and dishing herself a bowl as she and Elwyn stood and spoke, “You find anythin’ of interest on the other end of the hall? Ain’t made my way over there just yet.”

Lt. JG. Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 18-Jan-25 08:24 PM
"Me neither. I've been too occupied with all of this and the bean thingy they have on display!" Elwyn replied with a grin. "It's pretty looking, even if I don't know what it is or why it looks like that. I suppose I could ask... But maybe asking would be rude? I'm not sure. I don't wanna be rude!"

Lt. JG. Carissa Sykes | INT BOT 18-Jan-25 08:27 PM
The CYSEC agent glanced over toward the aforementioned ‘bean thingy’ and shrugged toward Elwyn, “I don’t think it’d be rude, ‘long as you ask nicely, yeah? We’re just doing what Starfleet would do, explorin’, heh.”

Lt. JG. Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 18-Jan-25 08:35 PM
Glancing over at The Bean as Sykes did, and then back at her as she spoke, Elwyn nodded in agreement. "That's true! I just don't wanna accidentally do some sort of cultural faux pas or something." Pausing briefly, the android glanced over towards the north end of the hall as they heard some sort of shriek sound in the distance, their enhanced hearing unable to pick up on exactly what was going on. "Well... That didn't sound too good..."
Avatar
Lt. JG. Carissa Sykes | INT BOT 18-Jan-25 08:37 PM
She turned her attention back to Elwyn, having not heard the shriek on account of being a human. Ah, ignorance. Bliss, “Sorry? Can’t say I heard anythin’.”

Lt. JG. Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 18-Jan-25 08:39 PM
Turning back to look at Sykes, Elwyn gave her a rather sheepish smile. "I think I just heard a shriek. I'm gonna go, ya know... Do my job real quick. You can come with if you like!" Deciding it was best to not put her plate down, lest it be mistaken for unwanted food, Elwyn headed over towards the north side of the hall.

Lt. Cdr. Rakim | CMD BOT 18-Jan-25 10:19 PM
The El-Aurian quietly finished their search for food. Food located, shriek noted but not addressed yet, the Lieutenant Commander loaded up a plate and just started to head for the private eating hall as he tapped his combadge with his free hand. "Lieutenant Commander Rakim to Security, I'm reporting a incident overheard in the vendor halls, Posit, North Vendor Hall." The El-Aurian's jaw worked a bit before they slowed to a stop. A situation like one implied by a scream didn't seem like one that needed him there, he reckoned. He was a diplomatic attaché. Not a security officer, after all, he reckoned.

A hush fell over the crowd as two towering Kreetassan, their movements fluid and swift, grabbed the steaming pot of hot stew both carrying it. They carefully balanced the bubbling vessel. In unison, their voices rang out, thick with reverence and fervor, echoing through the room: “FOOOOR THE BEEAAAAN!” *As the mob headed over to the #north-vendor-hall *

Lt. Cdr. Rakim | CMD BOT 18-Jan-25 10:53 PM
Needless to say Rakim had no time at all before what to him looked like a Kreetassan rugby shoulder charge. Bowled backwards at a rate of knots as the food he'd grasped went flying, Rakim slammed into the floor with a bang Tw: Injury A Bang he barely heard as his head bounced off the metal floor with a 'thunk' and pain blossomed from the back of his skull forward and blinded him briefly. The El-Aurian still, laying stunned and unmoving in the moments until just before the mob started to move and he started to regain awareness. "Wha-..Oh fucking shi-" His last word was interrupted by the mass of a crowd as he was overtaken and started to be trampled by many many people. By the time they departed, Rakims still form had slackened out. Unconsciousness a welcome balm forced upon the supine El-Aurian by many many feet now passed. His lack of awareness something he might have welcomed. Tw: Injury description. That is, with the position his arm rested in, bent and placed out of shape. The last bitter memory that remained of a failed attempt to ward off the inevitable wave that had passed. After all. He'd been trampled on by a lot of people.

Teno leapt out of the way as the mob charged the door! “Prophets!” He gasped, seeing Rakim get trampled, and then smacked his comm badge. “Lt. Zaru Teno to Security and Medical, there is an angry mob leaving the #south-vendor-hall headed toward the #north-vendor-hall. Lt. Commander Rakim has been injured. We need medical immediately!”

When the mob had gone, Teno ran over to Rakim to attempt to stabilize him until medical arrived.

Rakim remained unresponsive. While he initially looked fine. Tw: Injuries referred to He most certainly appeared to have at least one bootprint on his face and, as well as his arm being something easily assessed as broken, seemed like he might have other injuries also. What was mentioned perhaps related to the many other boot prints or partial boot prints easily located on his now nolonger pristine and clean uniform. tw? Injury implied. That and the fact his head cover seemed slightly less than dry now. The patch of wet located at the point of impact.

Lt. Ato Th'zhaloth | MED BOT 18-Jan-25 11:31 PM
Ato rushed through the door, medical tricorder in hand. His eyes immediately darted to the pair, one Bajoran man kneeling over another man with a very obviously broken arm. "Is he conscious?" Ato asked as he strode toward the two. "Have you moved him at all?" And once he got to their sides and kneeled down over Rakim, he began scanning Rakim's head with the tricorder to determine how seriously he'd been injured. It was apparent from how the poor man looked that he'd taken quite a beating. Ato assumed it was highly likely that they'd need an emergency medical transport, and to get this man to sickbay as soon as possible. (edited)

Lt. Zaru Teno | SCI BOT 18-Jan-25 11:41 PM
“I don’t think he’s conscious, and no, I haven’t moved him. He was still breathing as of a moment ago,” Teno said, and made way for Ato to take over.

Lt. Cdr. Rakim | CMD BOT 18-Jan-25 11:43 PM
Rakim remained slack, clearly unresponsive. He'd been blessedly spared from dreaming, this time. No instead, he stood upon a old vividly remembered bridge. Voices vivid remembered violently and clearly in this limbo that was and remained though Rakim realized none of that, his unconscious state. Every word 'overheard' the last traumatically pulled up memory-gasped that cried to the long dead crew the death of the last planet he'd truly called home. * *The tricorder scan determined a number of things about Rakim. The first being being detected being that the boot prints were all indeed, caused by..boots. Tw Injuries mentioned Rakims condition was and remained serious, likely caused with all seen and detected considered, by blunt force trauma, various forms of it. Most boot involved. His skull was slightly affected by the initial impact though not utterly seriously. Blood had been drawn when it impacted though and signs indicated sufficient trauma had been experienced that the man had been knocked clean out. The arm was indeed broken, several ribs were too. Other injuries also happened to be present. He'd been trampled on by a large mob after being bowled over. This mans condition was and remained serious. Not that it also mattered, but it might be noted or might not be noted that well, Rakims food was utterly smushed. The single reason he'd decided to come was utterly ruined on the floor or splatted on his uniform. (edited)

“Yeah, okay that’s not good. This man is in pretty bad shape. Thanks for checking on him,” Ato said to Teno, glancing at the Bajoran over his shoulder. “I’m going to have to get him to Sick Bay as soon as possible. I can’t risk moving him with the head trauma and the other complicating injuries. One moment,” He muttered, and tapped his comm badge. “Lieutenant Th’Zhaloth to Medical. Two to beam to sickbay. Lock on to mine and Lieutenant Commader Rakim’s comm badges please. We have head trauma, need the biomedical scanner at the ready.”
